Direct device communication even without internet
Does a cloud-based smart home only work with an internet connection? Not with Homematic IP. After pairing the devices, basic functions can be controlled at any time without an internet connection. This includes direct operation on the devices, execution of heating, time, and shading profiles, as well as local alarm notifications, for example, from smoke detectors.
For more complex automations and the initial setup of the smart home system, you will, of course, need an internet connection. However, the device status and essential information are stored directly on the devices without using the cloud. This results in high reliability for the Homematic IP smart home.Â
