The flexible Homematic IP Wi-Fi Access Point forms the heart of the smart home system. It connects easily to your Wi-Fi network via the Homematic IP app and can therefore be placed wherever you like, for example, on a shelf or table. The Wi-Fi Access Point establishes the connection between the paired Homematic IP products and the Homematic IP Cloud. This enables you to control your ideal temperature both locally within your own home and remotely via your smartphone. Since no personal data is requested or collected during setup, the user remains completely anonymous. All communication between the Wi-Fi Access Point and other Homematic IP devices is encrypted using the reliable Homematic IP wireless protocol.

The radiator thermostat – basic only heats when needed. The predefined heating profiles can be easily adjusted via the app. Up to three profiles and 13 changes per day can be set. The temperature can also be changed at any time directly on the radiator thermostat, via the Homematic IP app, or by voice command using Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant.

The Homematic IP window and door contact with magnet reliably detects the opening or closing of windows and doors. In conjunction with the radiator thermostat – basic, the room temperature is immediately lowered as soon as the window is opened. When the window is closed, the desired temperature is automatically restored. The current status is displayed in the app.

The smart set can be flexibly expanded at any time with Homematic IP products, for example, from the lighting or shading categories.

Direct device communication even without internet

Does a cloud-based smart home only work with an internet connection? Not with Homematic IP. After pairing the devices, basic functions can be controlled at any time without an internet connection. This includes direct operation on the devices, execution of heating, time, and shading profiles, as well as local alarm notifications, for example, from smoke detectors.

For more complex automations and the initial setup of the smart home system, you will, of course, need an internet connection. However, the device status and essential information are stored directly on the devices without using the cloud. This results in high reliability for the Homematic IP smart home.
