Is helmets mandatory?
Helmets are mandatory for e-scooters with a maximum speed of 25 km/h.
Helmets are not required for vehicles traveling at speeds below 25 km/h.
When a seatbelt is fastened, a helmet is not required.
Insurance
Liability insurance is mandatory. With the EU type approval (EEC) included in the delivery, you simply need to insure the e-scooter with an insurance company of your choice. Moped insurance is required. The insurance company will provide you with a moped license plate. Separate registration with the vehicle registration office is therefore not necessary.
Driver’s license
For e-scooters, a driver’s license of class AM, B, BE, A1, A2, A is required.
For persons born before April 1, 1965, the requirement to have a driver’s license is waived.
For electric vehicles, a driver’s license of classes AM, B, BE, A1, A2, or A is required. This requirement does not apply to persons born before April 1, 1965.
