| Warning notices | Safe Operation: 1. Never operate a chainsaw if you are tired, ill, agitated, or under the influence of any medication that may make you drowsy. 2. Wear safety shoes, close-fitting clothing, and protective equipment for your eyes, ears, and head. 3. Always handle fuel with care. Wipe up any spills and move the chainsaw at least 3 meters (10 feet) away from the fuel point before starting the engine. 3a. Eliminate all sources of sparks (i.e., open flames or work that can produce sparks) in areas where fuel is mixed, filled, or stored. 3b. Do not smoke while handling fuel or operating the chainsaw. 4. Do not allow anyone else near the chainsaw while starting or cutting. Keep bystanders and animals away from the work area. 5. Never begin cutting until you have a clear work area, a secure footing, and a planned escape route from the falling tree. 6. Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands while the engine is running. Secure the chainsaw by wrapping your thumbs and fingers around the handles. 7. Keep all body parts away from the saw chain when the engine is running. 8. Before starting the engine, ensure that the saw chain is not touching anything. 9. Always carry the chainsaw with the engine off, the guide bar and saw chain pointing backward, and the muffler away from your body. 10. Check the chainsaw for worn, loose, or damaged parts before each use. Never operate a chainsaw that is damaged, improperly adjusted, or not fully and safely assembled. Ensure that the saw chain comes to a complete stop when the throttle is released. 11. All maintenance on the chainsaw, except for that specified in the owner’s manual, should be performed by qualified chainsaw service personnel. 12. Always turn off the engine before storing the saw. 13. When cutting small brush and young trees, proceed with extreme caution, as thin material can snag the saw chain and be thrown towards you, or cause you to lose your balance. 14. When cutting a branch under tension, be aware of springback so that you are not struck when the tension in the wood fibers releases. 15. Never cut in strong winds, bad weather, poor visibility, or very high or low temperatures. Always check the tree for dead branches that might fall during the felling process. 16. Keep the handles dry, clean, and free of oil or fuel mixture. 17. Operate the chainsaw only in well-ventilated areas. Never start or run the engine in an enclosed space or building.Exhaust fumes contain dangerous carbon monoxide. 18. Do not operate the chainsaw in a tree unless you are specifically trained to do so. 19. Protect yourself from kickback. Kickback is the upward movement of the guide bar that occurs when the saw chain touches an object at the tip of the guide bar. Kickback can lead to a dangerous loss of control of the chainsaw. 20. When transporting your chainsaw, ensure that the appropriate guide bar cover is fitted. |
