Designer Henning Koppel

Henning Koppel decided to train in drawing and watercolor painting. He continued his training as a sculptor at the Royal Danish Academy and later in Paris. Thanks to his first-class drawing talent, which he had developed as a child, he was able to make outstanding product sketches of his designs. They are extraordinary works of art in themselves. Henning Koppel was the epitome of post-war Danish design. He transferred his visionary flair to watches when he introduced his first watch collection in 1978.

The Koppel watch design was revolutionary when it was introduced in 1978; today, Koppel’s designer pieces are classics. He replaced the numbers usually present on the dial of a watch with black dots. This design element can also be found in many of Georg Jensen’s subsequent watch collections. It is a good example of the interplay of simplicity and quality, which has been a hallmark of Georg Jensen since the beginning. The coupling hygrometer is a strong interplay of style and function. The silver-grey humidity meter is made of stainless steel and plastic and has a diameter of 10 cm.
