Item description
Butterwort – Pinguicula – 9cm pot.
A natural flycatcher for fruit flies, etc. Butterworts are especially effective at ridding your kitchen of these annoying pests.
The butterwort uses its greasy, sticky leaves to trap insects. The prey, mostly smaller insects, are attracted by the shine and scent of the trapping organs (leaves). Once they land on the leaf, there is no escape. They become stuck and are exhausted by digestive juices. The butterwort produces numerous flowers, which bloom for several weeks. Many species originate from Mexico. Worldwide, there are approximately 70 species.Â

Surprise Butterwort
You will receive one plant from our stock of butterworts. Variety selection is not possible with this item.
Why can’t you specify the exact variety you’ll receive? We now cultivate so many different species that it’s very difficult to sell all varieties evenly. This item allows us to prioritize plant varieties that are becoming overstocked, and to sell them to customers who are more interested in the plant’s function than its precise botanical species. Because this saves us costs and labor, we also offer this item at a lower price than the purebred Pinguicula plants.
