The following information is aimed at private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please note these important tips in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of old appliances and your own safety.

1. Information on the disposal of electrical and electronic (old) equipment and on the meaning of the symbol according to Annex 3 to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act

Owners of old equipment must collect it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, does not belong in household waste. Rather, these old devices must be collected separately and disposed of, for example, via the local collection and return systems.

Owners of old equipment must also separate waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old equipment, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old equipment in a non-destructive manner, before handing them in at a collection point. 2. Information on the possibilities of returning old equipment

Owners of old equipment can hand it in within the scope of the possibilities of returning or collecting old equipment set up and available by the public waste management authorities in order to ensure proper disposal of the old equipment. If necessary, it is also possible to hand in electrical and electronic equipment for the purpose of reusing the equipment. The following information is aimed at customers who use rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries or accumulators (batteries) supplied by us or products that contain or are supplied with batteries. Please note these important tips in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of used batteries as well as your own safety and health.

1. Information on the disposal or return of batteries

Used batteries contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. The separate collection of old batteries is intended to enable proper recycling and avoid negative effects on the environment and human health.

Owners of used batteries must therefore collect them separately from unsorted municipal waste. Used batteries may not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, do not belong in the household waste. Rather, end users of batteries are legally obliged to return old batteries.

After use, you can hand in batteries at a suitable collection or return point, which is available within the framework of the collection or take-back systems set up by the public waste management authorities and/or battery manufacturers or specialist dealers. You can also return batteries to us free of charge.

Rechargeable batteries or rechargeable batteries may only be returned to us or handed in at a collection point when discharged. In order to avoid short circuits in the case of batteries that are not completely discharged, the terminals should be taped off with suitable insulating tape.

2. Information on the meaning of the symbol according to § 17 para. 1 and the signs according to § 17 para. 3 BattG

Using the symbol from the annex to § 17 BattG, owners can identify batteries that are to be collected and returned or returned separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their service life.
